The Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program 2023-2024

MRS. COLTON’S CLASS

This year our classroom is participating in the BOOK IT! program to encourage your child to find the joy in reading. The mission of the program is to turn “have to read” into “want to read” and the only way to get better at reading is to take the time to do it! Below is how the program works!

I (the teacher) will:

Set a monthly reading goal for your child during the program which runs October – March.
Provide you with an ALA Student Planner to sign and track reading minutes, and I will enter your child’s progress in my digital teacher dashboard.
Award your child with a Reading Award Certificate good for a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza® at Pizza Hut, once your child meets their monthly reading goal
Send the certificate directly to you via email (if you have provided me your email address during the approval process described below) or I will print the certificate to send home with your child.

You (the parent) will:

Approve participation in the program (your child will come home with paperwork to show you how to log in an approve participation).
Sign your student’s ALA Planner each night to track their reading.
Celebrate your child’s reading achievement by redeeming their Reading Award Certificate!

Students who earn a Reading Award Certificate every month – from October through March – will also be eligible for a chance to win one of 21 prizes from BOOK IT!. These include one grand prize winner that will earn a $10,000 college plan and a $5,000 grant for our school library. Plus, 20 runners-up will win $1,000 in cash and prizes!^*
